Our
MSN Degree Program
This program, designed for the part-time student to complete
within three years, will lead to a Master of Science in Nursing
degree for nurse educators, clinical nurse leaders and clinical
nurse specialists in adult health concepts. The faculty and
staff are well known for their ability to provide personal,
individualized attention in a caring environment.
For
Those Who Love to Teach
The Nurse Educator track prepares nurses to teach in academic,
staff development and patient teaching settings. The curriculum
follows the NLN (2003) Core Competencies for Nurse Educators
in preparation for the NLN-AC Nurse Educator certification
exam. The courses are also offered as a Post-master Certificate
for Nurse Educators.
For
Those Who Desire to Lead in Clinical Practice
The new Clinical Nurse Leader track prepares a generalist
who oversees the care coordination of a distinct group of
patients and provides direct patient care in complex situations.
The curriculum builds upon the AACN (1998) Essentials of
Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice
and the AACN (2003) Working Paper on the Role of the Clinical
Nurse Leader competencies.
For
Those Who Want to be Experts in Their Field
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is an advanced practice
nurse prepared in an adult health clinical specialty who
functions as an expert clinician in their field. The curriculum
follows the competencies delineated in the AACN (1996) Essentials
of Master’s Education for Advanced Practice Nursing.
CNS graduates will meet the academic requirements to take
the CNS national certification examination by the American
Nurse’s Credentialing Center (ANCC).
